Located at an altitude of 629m, the mountain is covered with thick forest and magnificent curious rock.
The name gwanak refers to the gat-like profile as it looks like 'hat-shaped peak. Portions lie on the border of
Seoul and
Gyeonggi-do, and it has left numerous legends and cultural heritage.
Yeonjudae is located at the main mountaintop, which embraces the joys and sorrows of loyalists of Goryeo dynasty.
At the lower part is Yeonjuam, built by Uisang Buddhist master in the Silla Dynasty. At the foot of the mountain is Gwacheon Hyanggyo and Onon Temple, providing a variety of views throughout the four seasons.
